Visitors are always welcome at Remuera Toastmasters Club

The secret to a successful meeting is Preparation. This applies particularly to the rostered duties of Chairman and Toastmaster as well as to each of the Speakers who get at least a couple of week's notice of an impending speech.
  • All duties are rostered. Rosters are emailed to members well in advance of the meeting so there is plenty of time to prepare.
  •

  • Some duties have an "organisational" leaning. This helps members develop the skills for organising and running effective and easy flowing meetings.
  •

  • Learn how to create & deliver effective speeches. Each member receives a comprehensive Guide Book which details the techniques for creating all types of speeches such as Persuasive, Informative, Motivational and Entertaining speeches.
  •

  • Evaluation. Every speech or duty is evaluated so the speaker learns what they have done well and what could be improved. The Toastmasters Guide Books contain templates for an "evaluator" to critique each speech and give commendations as well as advice for improvement.
  •

  • Participation by Guests & Visitors. We always give our visitors and new members a fair go to speak without interruption. We do not impose an obligation on visitors to speak if they would rather just relax and listen. We like our visitors to enjoy their first meeting!

At Remuera Toastmasters we minimize time on dull business sessions! We leap fairly quickly into our Impromptu Speaking session known as Table Topics. This gives as many people as possible a chance to speak "off the cuff" for 90sec on a topic that is given to them at short notice. Interjections are encouraged in this fun Table Topics Session.
